Children's Dessert Derby

Each year the youth of Faithbridge have a fundraiser called the Dessert Derby.
In the past, the generous funds that have come from Dessert Derby have gone towards program needs and most importantly scholarships to events like the mission trip, winter retreats and summer camp.  This year we have expanded the purview of these funds to support the vital ministry of the entire family life department.

This year the Dessert Derby will offer an hour of silent auction item bidding with appetizers, a delicious dinner, and a LIVE auction where participants can bid on their favorite packages, as well as unbelievable desserts baked by the men of Faithbridge Church.  The delectable desserts are able to be viewed as you enter the event.

This year we are excited to be back at Roma Lodge which can accommodate all our friends and families who want to attend, and more! It is a wonderful time to get to know people of the church!

Nursery care is available for Infants to 3 years old.  Children 4 years old to 5th Grade are invited to participate in the Children's Dessert Derby in which age-appropriate entertainment.  A special dinner is also provided for the kids.

Do you have family or friends that you would like to invite?  Give us their contact information here and we will mail them an invitation.

We WILL see you there!

Our Family Life mission statement is to promote life long faith by partnering with parents and the larger church, while creating space for students and children to experience God.  We operate out of the three core vales of our church:  Worship, Connect and Serve.  Our desire is to introduce students and children to Christ, connect them with other believers, and enable them to growth in their faith through service.    In the past, the generous funds that have come from Dessert Derby have gone towards program needs and most importantly scholarships to events like the mission trip, winter retreats and summer camp.  We have expanded the purview of these funds to support the vital ministry of the entire family life department.

Last year, Dessert Derby raised nearly $50,000! We can’t begin to tell you how grateful we are for the blessing of such a generous church. We acknowledge that your support comes from a sincere heart to see our young people thrive in their journey. The support you blessed us with was used to send our High School Students to Beaumont, Texas where they did hurricane relief work, assisted local food pantries, and supported in local organization that cares for underprivileged kids. We set a record sending more than 30 kids and students to two different camps last summer. We took a group of College Students back to the Boundary Waters for an adventure/discipleship trip. This past winter, we sent more than 65 adults, students, and kids to three different Winter Camp Retreats. In addition, 20 College Students went to Passion in Atlanta! The lasting impact on our youth and those reached by these events is immeasurable.

Because of your financial support, our children, Middle School/High School and College students had experiences that lead to life-change and a deeper walk with Christ. We would love to continue to meet the needs of Family Life’s mission to promote lifelong faith through your generosity.

In 2019-20, we are continuing to emphasize the power of camp, retreats, and service projects in Family Life. We are hoping to offer additional support so that even more children and youth can attend camp this summer and retreats during the winter. We have several camp options this summer including day camp (we provide the transportation), partial week camp, full week camp, and Middle School summer camp at Timber-lee.

This summer, we are sending our High School Students to Alaska for their Summer Mission Trip. Over the course of the week, students will engage in children’s ministry, assist local food distribution, earthquake relief, Sunday morning bus ministry, and leading local outreaches through game facilitation, worship leading, and giving personal faith testimonies.

We have a number of “wish” projects that are still in the dream/planning stage for the upcoming year. These projects engage our students in experiences of discipleship, service and evangelism within our own community. Your support gives Family life access to resources to continue dreaming and implementing new and innovative experiences for our kid and student life ministry.

As we transition into a new season of ministry with new staff and new vision, we are grateful for your financial support so that new ideas and dreams can come to fruition. We have big dreams for the fall and will rely heavily on your support to make that happen. Your generosity is such a blessing to all of Family Life and we thank you for your support.

13 men of Faithbridge volunteer to be the official Dessert Chefs. We've paired them up with a Junior Chef from the Family Life ministry as well! They apply their culinary skills and creativity to come up with a fancy, delicious dessert creation that will be paraded around the Derby for all to see. No worries...grazing and sampling of all desserts are encouraged!

Each dessert is also judged in four categories: Taste, Presentation, People's Choice, and Originality. The dessert with the highest combined score from all four categories will be crowned "Grand Champion." People's Choice Award is the dessert that receivves the most votes from the audience.
